Currys and PC World are parts of Dixons Retail plc which is Europe’s largest specialist electrical retailer and services company. Operating in 26 countries, with over 1,200 stores in 13 countries across Europe, it employs over 38,000 people. Dixons Retail are the number one market leaders in the UK & Ireland, Nordics, Greece and the Czech Republic.
Challenge
Dixons Retail contracted Buy4now to provide intuitive, content rich sites for both PC World and Currys for Christmas 2010. Contracted in October, the site had to be live to the ROBO (Research Online Buy Offline) market for the rush Christmas market. Of all the sectors Electrical sales are heavily researched online with purchases often being transacted instore.
Solution
Working closely with Dixons IT team in the UK, Buy4now integrated with the Dixons legacy Pricing and Stock systems and delivered a non transactional site for Christmas 2010.
In early 2011 after intensive work processes were agreed and the sites went fully transaction integrated with World Pay for payment processing. Today the site has over 20,000 products all with rich product information that have resulted in very significant online traffic, online sales and increased instore footfall.
